5 Questions for Developing Your Personal Brand

Following is a great quick video with some helpful tips about what you need to ask yourself when developing your personal brand - especially if you're seeking another job. To sum it up, you need to ask yourself:
  1. What makes me tick?
  2. What can I deliver?
  3. How do I make my workplace better?
  4. Why am in demand?
  5. Why should you hire me?
Kristi Daeda from Career Adventure explains each question in detail. I like the advice because it's practical and easy to digest.

Your Online Brand Checklist

Following is a good checklist to help you get started branding yourself online. Key points to remember are that you want to grab your personal domain name (i.e. - yourname.com) and sign up on the sites mentioned on this list as soon as possible. Using a service like Knowem makes the process quick and easy. Before creating your online profiles on these sites, remember to define your brand. This will help you clearly communicate a consistent and authentic image. Then take the time to complete your profiles. People want to know a little bit about you before they decide to friend or follow you. Once they do though, you can start building a relationship with them. As with any relationship, trust takes time to develop, but enjoy the process. It's worth it.

Launching the Work Your Brand Blog

I'm proud to officially launch the Work Your Brand blog. As I work (no pun intended) towards adding personal branding services to my marketing consulting firm, this blog will document my progress and provide personal branding tips for career success. Personal branding continues to be a hot trend for people wanting to advance their career especially in today's economy. Competition is fierce for entry-level jobs and middle managers must constantly prove their worth if they want to advance up the corporate ladder. What I like most about personal branding is that it forces you to be true to yourself. It's difficult to present a facade or image that doesn't resonate with who you really are. My goal is to help people define, live and promote a personal brand that is authentic and unique. The road to branding yourself is a life-long process, so enjoy the ride. Nothing is more satisfying than being proud of who you are and being comfortable in your own skin. I'm not a personal branding guru, but I strive to be a valuable resource for people wanting to brand themselves online and offline. I welcome your comments on my blog posts and look forward to the possibility of working with you to help you reach your personal dreams and professional goals.
